Multipitch Fundamentals

Ready to see the bigger picture? Learn and practice the essential skills and systems you need for multi-pitch trad and sport climbing. This unique advanced systems class is only available outdoors in the DC region with East Outdoors.

Safe, fun multi-pitch includes smooth belay transitions, bomber anchors, and getting back down without incident—and the critical thinking and judgement needed to achieve them by combining complex skills and systems. This class emphasizes hands-on practice and repetition and is applicable to all multi-pitch climbing.

    • The overall process and flow of a multi-pitch rock climb

    • Advanced lead belay skills including the use of a ground anchor and tethers mid-route

    • Rope management skills

    • Step-by-step practice on climbing and transitioning between
