Self-Rescue II: Top Down Rescue

$195 | Great Falls, VA | Top rope climbing and belay experience required

Continue building your self-rescue toolkit and shift to assisting a climber from the top with lowers, haul systems, belay escapes, and knot passes. In this full day of hands-on learning and practice, you’ll develop core skills to solve the most common problems that arise in single-pitch climbing.

This class focuses on managing rescue from the top down in single pitch settings. Need to brush up on the basics or ready to go deeper? Check out Self Rescue I: Fundamentals or Self Rescue III (Multipitch Rescue)

  • You’ll learn:

    How to prevent problems before they happen and address them quickly if they do

    Lowering a climber from the top using an assisted brake or plaquette device

    Haul systems including 3:1, 3:1+1, and 5:1

    Escaping the belay

    Passing a knot on lower
